Dave Ellis

The Game Writer

Who is this guy?

Got a video game that needs a writer? YOu've come to the right place!

I'm Dave Ellis, that's who! Okay...maybe that isn't all that helpful.

I started in the video game industry in 1992, and I've shipped over 30 games on 15 different platforms as either a writer or a designer (often as both) for some of the best-known game companies in the industry.

I've written the story, VO, and in-game text for dozens of games, both licensed and original IP games. Two of my original IP scripts have won awards--Dead Head Fred won the first Writers Guild of America award for video game writing in 2008, and Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard won the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Award for Best Comedy Game. I've been a trusted writer for games based on popular licenses from Cartoon Network, DreamWorks, Warner Bros., and Paramount (to name a few).

I've also written plenty of game documentation (back in the days when manuals were more than just a controller image with button callouts); authored 16 published books; written for a number of national magazines; and spoken at several game writing events.

Now, I'm ready to bring my skills and experience to your next project. Let's talk!
